Padded

Caithlin DeMarrais on the final night of her co-residency at The Fall Cafe in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn with Chris McFarland.

Lady Rizo and the Assettes performed a bloody Halloween extravaganza at the Highline Ballroom . . .

And late Friday night, a group of musicians and producers gathered over at the Saltlands and jammed late in to the night. Rumor is that I even put down my drawing pad and picked up a guitar. But don't trust rumors . . .

Night Off

My Morning Jacket is in town, playing their entire catalogue, album by album. Last night was their first night off in ten days but most everyone in the band and crew came over to Joe's Pub for bandmate Carl Broemmel's solo show. In a set filled with looped harmonies and swirling solo guitar parts, Broemmel played his sweet seventies-influenced material to a crowd of folks who were also looking for something to do on their night off from seeing My Morning Jacket's extended New York residency.

A Life In The Theatre

A few weeks back, I got to spend a couple of days with Patrick Stewart, T.R.Knight and director Neil Pepe as they put the finishing touches on the Broadway production of David Mamet's two-hander A Life In The Theatre. I was asked in by the producers to create some opening night gifts for the cast, director and playwright as well as some cards for the first night crowd.
